Fire at UAQ furniture factory put out, no injuries
A fire broke out in an Umm Al Quwain furniture factory located in the old industrial zone on Thursday afternoon. No casualties were reported. The operations room received the tip-off at 12:15 pm in the afternoon about a furniture factory which had caught fire, reported Al Bayan.


Fire engines and ambulances were dispatched to the site. Fifty people were evacuated from the building and the nearby areas. Colonel Khamis Ibrahim Bulsali, deputy director of the UAQ civil defence department, stated that the fire was controlled within minutes.
A video on social media showed the smoke billowing profusely as flames licked the top of a building while the fire fighters worked to extinguish the fire.
Colonel Khamis called on the factory owners to dispose of their wastes properly and also make sure they meet the fire, health, and safety standards.
