When using a fire extinguisher, remember: PULL, AIM, SQUEEZE, and SWEEP
If you’re not trained in fire safety, chances are that you don’t know where the fire extinguisher nearest to you is. Worse, you have no idea how to use it even if it is nearby.
A fire extinguisher is the best first defence in the event of a fire. If using one indoors, take note of any wind source. If outdoors, first check the wind direction.
You must be on the windward direction. Meaning, if the wind is coming from the east, use the extinguisher from that side,” said trainer Christian Beltran from Al Salama Fire Safety Training.
If the wind direction is not taken into consideration, the person using the fire extinguisher can get hurt.

August 05, 2017Dubai Civil Defence has successfully put out a fire in Dubai Marina's Torch Tower, the world's fifth tallest residential building with 86 floors, early Friday morning. No causalities were reported. The Dubai Media Office confirmed that the civil defence team was able to successfully evacuate the building and quickly control the spread of the fire that broke out on the 65th floor without any injuries.
Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, and Major General Rashid Thani Al Matroushi, Director-General of Civil Defence in Dubai, were present at the scene.
Authorities in Dubai are working round-the-clock to rehabilitate residents of Dubai Marina's Torch Tower, who have been put up in three nearby hotels after Thursday night's huge fire that damaged 38 flats. -
