Bluetooth-Enabled Gas Detector Make Connecting to Workers

Recently Honeywell launched a new portable gas detector designed to keep workers safe in dangerous confined spaces. What makes this Gas Detector different than previous Gas Detectors from Honeywell?

According to Jacob Spector the new Honeywell BW™ Ultra Bluetooth-enabled Gas Detector was designed with confined space entry in mind. The BlueTooth capability enables managers to collect and track valuable data. The Honeywell BW™ Ultra Bluetooth-enabled Gas Detector allows companies to remotely monitor their employees’ safety, respond to emergencies faster and avoid costly downtime.

What gases is the Honeywell BW™ Ultra Monitor able to detect?

Jacob Spectors stated that the new Honeywell BW™ Ultra can monitor up to five different gases simultaneously, combining standard four-gas sensing capability for oxygen, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, and combustibles at the lower explosive limit (LEL), that can be customized with a choice of photoionization detector (PID) sensors for VOCs or infrared (IR) sensors for combustible gases, carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, chlorine and other toxic gases.

How did Honeywell develop the Honeywell BW™ Ultra?

The Features of the Honeywell BW™ Ultra Gas Detector were designed using the Honeywell User Experience, which puts customer problems and ease of use at the center of the development process. The new detector features a larger 3.2-inch display to display more critical information at a glance, a rugged ergonomic design, and a one-button operation. Honeywell TouchConnect technology helps users quickly access calibration and bump test modes as well as complete configuration changes without the need to be connected to a docking system or a computer.

The Honeywell BW™ Ultra also has a Patented Hole Watch Mode which includes an easy-to-read bar graph showing gas concentration in relation to alarm threshold which helps attendants monitor and respond to changing atmospheric conditions making adjustments to ventilation before a gas alarm is triggered.

What other features does the Honeywell BW™ Ultra have?

The Honeywell BW™ Ultra has remote notification and lone worker monitoring to ensure that the worker is always monitored, along with Patented IntelliFlash pulsing light indicates sensor functionality and compliance status. The Gas Detector also has an internal pump which offers quick pre-entry confined space testing.

The BW Ultra has built in Bluetooth so it does not require the BW Connect. Essentially the “BW Connect” is built in. The connectivity provides workers with the assurance that their employer can monitor their well-being in dangerous situations. Having real-time data means safety managers can quickly assess a situation and provide the correct emergency response in a timely fashion. Connectivity also improves productivity and compliance, because Honeywell’s remote-monitoring software automatically logs gas incidents, tracks detector testing schedules and generates compliance reports.

Can you use the IntelliDoX to Calibrate the Ult

ra? According the Jacob Spector yes, you can use the IntelliDoX docking/charging station with the Honeywell BW™ Ultra. The IntelliDoX enables managers to automate the company’s fleet of gas detectors by generating compliance records, alarm history and events, along with calibration certificates.
